该模组包括以下5个系统（目前）：

- 感染：当前所有被感染的生物都会攻击大部分动物、村民和玩家。在击杀它们后，它们会重新生成为奔跑者。
- 进化：在生成奔跑者后的3分钟20秒（4000刻钟）内，奔跑者有一半的几率进化成潜行者，然后潜行者有三分之一的几率进化成蹒跚者。
- 大群：当你吸入有毒气体后，有十分之一的几率会生成大群，所以尽量避免在不需要时靠近蹒跚者（除非你有防毒面具）。它们也会自然生成，但非常罕见。
- 鼠王：鼠王非常罕见，它们在被杀后会生成一个潜行者、一个啃咬者、一个膨胀者和两个奔跑者。
- 火焰弱点：大型被感染者身上有很多脂肪，因此它们非常容易燃烧。点燃它们会使它们变慢，并且受到的伤害更大。较小的感染者不受影响（奔跑者、潜行者、蹒跚者、啃咬者）。
- 霉菌感染：霉菌会在草地上生成，并造成大量伤害。它还会破坏护甲。

其他生物能力：

- 远视和潜行：潜行者能从很远的地方看到你。它们也会试图从背后袭击你。
- 最后一搏：当奔跑者被杀后，有三分之一的几率生成爬行者。它们的生命值比奔跑者少，并且比奔跑者慢。
- 听觉增强：啃咬者视力很差...但这并不代表它们不危险...它们的听力非常灵敏，如果你不蹲下，在离啃咬者很近的时候超过3秒，它将开始追踪你。它们现在有一种愤怒的动画，非常容易察觉到它们发怒。
